What We Inspect and Why

A home inspection is a visual examination of the home's major structure, systems, and components that are visible and safely accessible. Buying a home is typically the biggest investment you will ever make, so it's important to get a home inspection because the inspector can find and document defects that may or may not be obvious to you as a prospective buyer.  Such defects can range from simple replacements or repairs to severe damage or safety and health concerns.

  1. Interior, exterior, walls, windows, and doors

  2. HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning)

  3. Basement, crawlspace, and structure

  4. Fireplace

  5. Roof and attic

  6. Electrical

  7. Plumbing

Meet Your Inspector

Damon Verellen

Damon has always had a love of homes. He studied drafting and architecture all thru school. He would even set aside a day while on vacation to walk thru model homes in new construction developments to admire and, of course, critique the floor plan and design elements of the latest and greatest homes. While Damon never pursued architecture or home design as a career, he never stopped designing, learning, and admiring houses.
In 2017 Damon and his family moved to West Virginia and began building their own home from the ground up. During the preceding three years, Damon spent countless hours learning proper building practices, including everything from framing to foundations to plumbing. Damon and his family now enjoy a beautiful home they can proudly say they designed and built themselves.
During the pandemic, Damon received a blessing in disguise, a layoff. The company he worked for was closing its doors. Damon took this opportunity to shift his career toward something he always loved, homes. He immediately signed up for a home inspector certification course, which he passed with flying colors, and continues to hone his craft through continuing education and relationships with fellow inspectors. Damon has since achieved the title of Certified Professional Inspector from InterNACHI, the world's largest and most respected home inspector association.
